Key Elements in This Library Reno: Color, Texture, & Layering
When dreaming up the design for this library renovation, the goal was clear: create a space that felt cozy and lived-in, as if it had been assembled over time. We wanted the room to invite you in with warmth and personality.
The foundation of the space is custom millwork coated in a color we developed, called Milk & Honey. This warm, beige-yellow hue casts a soft, welcoming glow, creating the perfect backdrop. We leaned into a palette of antiqued brass, earthy oranges, and rich chocolate browns to add depth and contrast, while still maintaining that collected, curated feel.
Layering was key: velvet-tufted seating adds comfort, while patinaed lighting and botanical accents add a sense of history. The room is grounded with natural textures. Wood flooring, embroidered patterns, and warm textiles bring softness and age-old charm to the design.
As you can see from the rendering below, the space feels both elevated and approachable. This room is a place to sink into a chair with a book and a cup of coffee, surrounded by objects that tell a quiet, beautiful story.
